Women in Aviation Singapore Chapter Achieves New Milestone with 100 Graduates from Mentorship Programme

SINGAPORE, 30 SEPTEMBER 2025 – Women in Aviation Singapore Chapter (WAI-SG) is hosting its annual Gala Dinner on 9 October 2025 with Senior Minister of State for Transport, Ms Sun Xueling, as Guest of Honour. The prestigious event, now in its fourth year, celebrates the milestone achievement of reaching 100 graduates from WAI-SG’s mentorship programme, highlighting the organisation’s impact on strengthening Singapore’s aviation talent pipeline. Event sponsors this year include Airbus (Platinum), Bombardier (Gold), and Roll-Royce (Gold), and airline sponsors include Turkish Airlines (Platinum), Etihad Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, and Vietjet Air.

This year’s theme, “Pioneering the Skies’ Future,” spotlights WAI-SG’s commitment to nurture the next generation of female aviation leaders through clear pathways and access to next-generation opportunities. As Singapore’s premier platform dedicated to advancing women in aviation, WAI-SG has cultivated a thriving network of professionals across all sectors of the industry. The comprehensive approach demonstrates how diverse perspectives strengthen the industry’s capacity to grow, adapt, and meet the evolving challenges of global aviation.

“Having 100 mentees graduate in three years is testament of our approach to ensure sustainable growth in female representation while promoting innovation and resilience across Singapore’s aviation ecosystem,” said Lou-Ann Seet, President, Women in Aviation International – Singapore Chapter. “These accomplished women embody how innovation, leadership, and skill development prepare aviation professionals for tomorrow’s challenges while serving as role models for young women and aspiring professionals.”

The mentorship programme was launched in 2022 to bridge the gender and career gap in aviation, with the goal to help mentees progress in their careers and create supportive relationships that foster career advancement. As of 2025, the programme has supported more than one-third (36.4%) of professionals in achieving recognition in terms of awards, increased responsibilities, and organisational acknowledgement. Over 90% of mentees also rated their mentorship experience highly and average satisfaction scores above 8.5 out of 10. The structured tools and approaches available help mentees gain clarity on long-term career goals and develop enhanced confidence in decision-making, negotiation and leadership skills.

Girls in Aviation Day

Following the Gala Dinner, WAI-SG will host Girls in Aviation Day (GIAD) on 1 November 2025 at Temasek Polytechnic, with Captain Vanessa Ess from Singapore Airlines as Guest of Honour.

GIAD 2025 is WAI-SG’s annual flagship initiative to inspire young women aged 8-17 to explore exciting careeropportunities in aviation and aerospace. Through interactive exhibits and hands-on activities, the event showcases diverse career pathways across aviation disciplines, such as pilots, engineers, technicians, and more.

Through both Gala Dinner and GIAD, WAI-SG underscores its commitment to empowering the next generation while championing those already shaping the industry today. The organisation remains committed to drive initiatives that promote opportunities for women to thrive, innovate, and make lasting contributions in the industry. With the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) S$200 million fund to support the aviation sector’s manpower needs, WAI-SG is well-positioned to complement national efforts by nurturing talent, strengthening diversity and inclusion, and ensuring women have equal opportunity to be a part of the industry’s growth story.
